India is scrambling to secure new energy supplies as the Israel-US war on Iran drives prices higher and disrupts global flows, with New Delhi turning back to Russia for liquefied natural gas (LNG).
India is scrambling to secure new energy supplies as the Israel-US war on Iran drives prices higher and disrupts global flows, with New Delhi turning back to Russia for liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Officials from both countries agreed to prepare for the resumption of direct LNG sales, people familiar with the talks told Reuters news agency, potentially marking a major shift in India’s energy strategy.
The move comes despite earlier efforts by India to reduce Russian oil imports under pressure from US President Donald Trump.
Talks between Russian and Indian energy officials have also included plans to increase crude shipments, which could soon account for a significantly larger share of India’s imports.
The push reflects mounting pressure on major economies to secure fuel as the war continues to disrupt supply chains and tighten global markets.
